What is decided vs what is a forum report
Decided: every phone that ran iOS 26 can run iOS 27. 26.7 and 27 shipped the same week. Siri AI is still only on 15 Pro / 16-or-later / Air / Duo.
Forum report, not a bench: iPhone 15 (non-Pro) heat and charge-suspend under 27.0 versus 26.6; iPhone 12 stutter; 13 Pro Max “saved from the scrap heap.” Treat those as hypotheses for your own screen-on time after indexing, not as Apple advisories.
iPhone 15 / 15 Plus
You get iOS 27. You do not get Siri AI. If 26.6/26.7 already calmed the 26.0 heat, waiting a point release is the conservative read of r/iOS27. If you update anyway, use the indexing battery page before you roll back. A rollback to 26.x wipes the phone unless you have a backup from before 27.
iPhone 12 / 12 mini
Still on Apple’s 27 list. User reports of heat and stutter on 27.0 exist, including 12 mini lag tied to tinted icons in beta (default icons reduced it). If this is a trip phone, 26.7 until you can test 27 at home is rational. Replace-the-battery advice only applies if Maximum Capacity is already in Service territory — a 100% third-party cell can still heat on a new OS.
iPhone 13 / 13 Pro Max
Same install list, no Siri AI. Counter-threads on r/iOS27 describe 13 Pro Max as smoother and cooler on 27 than on 26, including phones with ~76% battery health. That is the opposite of the 15-series heat posts. Do not copy a 15 verdict onto a 13.
If Software Update offers both
See Upgrade to iOS 27 still shows 26.7. Pick one train. Installing 26.7 then 27 in the same afternoon is optional, not required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I go back to 26.7 after 27?
Only while Apple still signs 26.7, and a computer restore typically erases the device. Back up first. Banking apps are why many Reddit users refuse the experiment.
Does waiting miss Siri AI?
Not on 15 non-Pro, 12, or 13. Those models never get Siri AI on 27. Waiting only delays Liquid Glass and security on the 27 train.
