Software is not the reason to switch
iOS 27 is on both. Siri AI is listed for both. Buying 18 Pro to install 27 is wasting the hardware budget. Use how to update iPhone on the 17 Pro instead.
When 18 Pro is the rational buy
You want the current Pro camera body, you are already in a replacement cycle, or the 17 Pro is worn/lost. We will not invent megapixel or chip-name deltas Apple has not put on the comparison you are reading this against. Check Apple’s 18 Pro page for the camera line and display size before you pay for a “faster Neural Engine” claim from a third party.

No. Apple’s September 2026 Intelligence footnote includes iPhone 16 models or later, which includes 17 Pro, and names 18 Pro separately.
