The only support fact that matters
Apple’s iOS 27 page names iPhone 11 and does not name XR. XS/XR left at iOS 26. Copy from 2025 that said “11’s last OS is 18” is false in this edition.
Who should buy a new phone
XR: if you want 27 or current security on a signed major train, buy hardware (16e/17 if you also want Intelligence). 11: update iOS unless you want Siri AI — then you still need 15 Pro or 16-or-later. Upgrade vs update.
Questions this page actually answers
Is an iPhone XR safe in September 2026?
It still runs. It is off the current major train. Banking apps may eventually require a signed current OS. That is a replacement clock, not a Settings trick.
Can I put iOS 27 on XR with a restore?
No. Apple will not sign 27 for that SoC.
