What you are seeing
The download finishes, then iOS reports that it cannot verify the update.
Why this happens
Verification compares the downloaded image against Apple’s currently signing catalog. A dropped session, a clock that is wrong, a captive Wi-Fi portal, or a truncated .ipsw all fail the same way.
Do this in order
- Confirm Date & Time is set automatically.
- Forget the current Wi-Fi network and join it again, or move to a different network.
- Settings → General → iPhone Storage → iOS update file → Delete Update.
- Restart, plug into power, and download once. Do not background the phone into Low Power Mode mid-download.
- If verification fails twice over Wi-Fi, install from a Mac or PC so the computer fetches a fresh signed image.
If it is still broken
Repeated verify failures on every network usually mean the local copy is corrupt or Apple is not signing that build anymore. Use a computer restore/update path instead of downloading the same OTA again.

Does this error mean my iPhone is incompatible?
No. Incompatible phones never receive the file. This error happens after a download that iOS then refuses to trust.
Can I skip verification?
No. Unsigned firmware will not install. The fix is a clean, currently signed copy.
