The only compatibility question that matters
If the phone installed iOS 26, it can install iOS 27. Apple did not drop a model between those two trains. If the phone never installed iOS 26 (XS, XR, X, 8), iOS 27 is not a hidden option.
Siri AI is not “iOS 27 on every iPhone”
Apple’s 14 September 2026 availability note lists Siri AI and the new Intelligence features on iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. An iPhone 13 on iOS 27 is current for security and Liquid Glass. It is not a Siri AI device.
When waiting on 26.7 is rational
Wait if a required app vendor has not shipped an iOS 27 build, or if you are in the first 48 hours of a new point release and your work phone cannot tolerate a first-week regression. Do not wait because you think iOS 27 will “open up” on an iPhone 11 — it will not add Siri AI there.
